Default 15" Wheels on GT?

I hate to even ask this, but will 15 inch wheels from a 2000 V6 Mustang fit on a 2000 GT? After last winter, I've decided to switch to snow tires for this season, and 15 inch tires are much cheaper than the 16 inch ones (I don't think anybody even makes 17 inch snow tires, and I want to keep the summer tires and rims together to simplify switching).

My friend has a 2000 V6 with 15 inch alloy wheels, so I know the Mustangs came with 15 inch wheels that year, but I'm wondering if the GT has larger brakes than the V6. It looks like I've got lots of clearance between the capilers and the current 17 inch rims, but I'd hate to get the wheels and find out they don't fit.

I'd like to get a set of stock mustang 15 inch wheels so they looks "proper", instead of a set of cheap aftermarket rims. Besides going to teh local boneyard, is there a good place to get new or used OEM wheels?

I can't speak for myself, but I know my friend had to use a pair of 15" wheels when he ordered his rousch (sp) wheels. He only had them for about a month, and he said traction was impossible--like donut tires. For snow, I dunno; but he had a '00 GT and they fit his.

Search around on Ebay for used factory rims. Also, call the local rim shops, because a lot of them just buy cheaply the OEM wheels when people get aftermarket ones.

Other than that, look through some Mustang Magazines. I'm not sure about the clearance, looks like they would fit on my '97. Double check the backspacing, there may be an issue there.

I went nuts for about a month trying to find a set of 15x10's for the rear so I could put drag radials on them. I could not get any shops to commit they would fit my '00 GT. I tried Discount Tire, Tire Rack, Jegs, and a bunch of local shops. Nobody could promise they would fit. I do know some 15's fit, but you have to get a wheel with the right offset, and I never could find out what this was. I ended up lucking into a brand new set of 17x9 Cobra wheels for $60's a pieace at Discount Tire.
