Default 1997-98 Gt

Hi all. I used to post on this board a few years back when i owned an 89 GT. Since then I've had a few cars, none of which really felt right to me. I currently have on 01 Hyundai Sonata (which I've grown to hate) and am looking to get into another GT for about the same cost. I found a couple 97 & 98's that look pretty decent.

Since I've never owned a modular stang, is there any advice anyone would be willing to offer on some things that I should maybe look for? I have been under the impression that the 4.6 is pretty much as solid as the 5.0. Would the current owner's agree?

i never had a mod motor stang, but from friends that have them they are a little harder to work on. a friend of mine did long tubes on a 96 cobra and it was hard because of lack of space. i have also herd they are not that great at making a lot of power, but i think if you do it right you should be fine.

on a side note, where around rockville do you live? i used to live there for my whole life, then just moved out to utah.

I used to have a 1998 gt and now own a 2003 gt. Both of which were very reliable. I would lean towards the 99 and newer cars because they have a better cylinder head, but if you're stuck on the older body style the newer heads and intake can be swapped onto the older cars. If possible get a Cobra as they have even better flowing 4 valve heads. Any year cobra is good. 96-98 don't have as good a head as the newer cars but they are still really good. They are not that difficult to work on.
