Default Clutch problem

Driving my new baby last night, 66 with a 289, my clutch suddenly went from tight and not much free play to loose and LOTS of free play. I did a visual inspection (late at night, couldn't see much), and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I still have clutch, but the release is very quick. Any suggestions?
