Exclamation 2005 GT Rev limiter & engine light

My son learned today if you bump the rev limiter enough, it will cause the check engine light to come on. When you bring it to the dealer they will charge you $85.00 to turn if off, because it came on due to abuse. Thats BS! What do they think these cars were built for. I told my son he needs to find out how to turn the idiot light off himself.

just put a piece of electrical tape over it and use that 85 bucks to hire some guy to beat up the dealer. <LAUGH>

Unless the 05 computer is different, disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes should clear any codes... most likely re-setting the light...

Most local shops (Goodyear\Firestone) have the ability to read and clear codes.... unless of course, the 05 has a different system than earlier cars...

The 05 computer is different. SCT has developed programs for the 05 which can be loaded through their Xcalibrator units. Their program will allow you to bump the rev limiter and I believe (not certain) disable the tell tale reporter.

I know for a fact that the Diablo Predator can clear codes for that problem... b/c I did it... I also raised my rev limiter to 6800 rpm. I only shift at 6200rpm but it pulls all the way up there now. + no check engine light.

predator also added 16RWHP and 32RWTQ

I beleive SCT's does the same. both are awesome devises!
