2V intake manifold spacer
I saw an intake manifold spacer for the 4.6-2V in MM&FF made by Paul's High Performance. They claimed 7 hp on an otherwise stock motor. Does anyone have any experience with a spacer on these cars? I called and they said $200, which is a bit much for a spacer but not so bad compared to other mods if you actually get 7 hp out of it.

Instead of a spacer, save the money for a Bullit intake...
|
I guess the spacer is just for stock intakes. You wouldn't know if they have spacers for SVO intakes, would you?
|
If you think that a 1/4" piece of aluminum will give you ANY horsepower gains then you've got too much space between the ears.
Just another useless piece of hardware pushed on the unknowing by the unscrupulous. |
Amen Wheeler! $200 for a spacer is ridiculous! They don't really do anything but if you must have a spacer make your own.
|
200 spacer ,,, can we say scam !!!!
I think many people will say the same ,,,, sounds like a SCAM !! That seems to be the wrost thing about haveing a 4.6L , they are always trying to sell some scam !! But when the after market opens up more for the 4.6l ,, them 5.0 will be put to rest by a far better engine !!!!!!

Spacers have been proven work on some combos and not on others. If anyone had one and could tell me that they gained 7 rwhp, then regardless of the fact that $200 is way overpriced for a spacer, compared to some other mods that give that much horsepower for the same or more money it would be worth it.
Anyone know where to find a Bullitt intake for a decent price? |
I know where you can get a fully ported Bullitt intake kit with all the specific hardware you need for the swap. $1500.
:D |
Hmmmmm SD, where's that?:D

I will like to see how that spacer would do if combined with a Bullit intake.
I do agree with "BLUE0GT" unless someone here have use this particular spacer we should not jump the gun and say that it does not work. Yesterday I called the a Ford dealer and they are selling me the Bullit intake for $328 they said that it also includes the convertion kit. I tried to get the dealer to install it for me but they refuse, the guy at the parts dpto told me to talk to the manager and maybe he will make an exception. Basically I just want to know how much they will charge me for it. I wish we could have some facts if this spacer works, if it wasn't so much money I would give it a tried ...... after all the intake will already be out for a replacement anyway. .................................................. .................................................. ..... Mustang 99GT Under drive pulleys, subframes, 3.73, sport Lowering springs, strut tower brace, caster/camber plates, rear sway bar, tokiko illumina adjustable shocks/struts, upper&lower rear control arms, timing adjuster, 245x17 Michelin pilot, high performance brake pads,k&n filter (no silencer, no spare tire). |
Was that price a typo? That 'conversion kit' surely doesn't come with the twin throttle body, does it?
|
Not to shoot you down but you are not going to get a complete bullitt intake with everything for the conversion for $328.

Guess you haven't really looked at that "spacer". It sits between the plastic intake and the throttle body elbow. It won't work anywhere on the Bullitt intake. Yesterday I called the a Ford dealer and they are selling me the Bullit intake for $328 they said that it also includes the convertion kit. Hope you like that lower intake and the two gaskets you're gonna get. What are you going to pay for the rest of the parts you need???????? I offer the fully ported Bullitt Intake Package and I can tell you right now, you're only getting the lower section. |
Too bad it's not only $328 for the Bullitt intake. I'd have one on order right know. Is it true that you need to swap alternators (To a 4G I think?) when switching to Bullitt since it the stocker won't mount correctly after the swap. I read this somewhere but I don't remember where. Is this true or am I just imagining I read this?
|
Yes you do need a Cobra, Mark VIII or Bullitt alternator with the intake swap. Bascially the stock alternator is too thick, these others are thinner for clearance.

"SLOW 97"
I know that there are few sites that have the bullit intake for less than $400, when I am not busy I will look for this websites for you. I called my dealership again yesterday and they said that they will not install the intake for me because it will avoid my warranty:confused: I remember that Mustang and fast Ford installed the bullit intake and I don't remember anything about changing the alternator, I might be wrong in this one but I will look for the magazine this weekend. |
Yup, that's what I thought. I guess I'm not crazy. SD, does the alternator and the necessary hardware come with your Bullitt kit?

You will not get the upper and lower intake and all the associated parts for under $400 I don't care who you are I've seen the cost from Ford on all the parts. The upper and lower alone are a hair over $400 at cost so even if you were a dealer you couldn't get better than that. Bill |
There's no way you'll find even close to the stuff you need to do the swap for $400. Like Mustang92 said, even at cost, it's over $400. The 'real' Bullitt intake is usually around $1500. You'll definitley need the alternator to do it right due to clearence issues.

Rocket99, Good luck with that low buck kit. I'd love to see the look on your face when you try to install it. By the way..........did that "reliable dealer source" inform you that the rest of the components will push the price over $1300?????? If you don't have a clue about the kit then why do you keep insisting that it is "less than $400"? I'm doing the kits, Bill has installed one on his car..........what more proof do you require? |
