Post ?'s before we put in the 3.73's

First off,
Thanks to everyone for helping earlier this month and last month for the advice given for my buddy's 97 GT.
We bought some 3.73's and we're ready to go!!!!
I just found out that it is VERY possible that he has 2.73's. Wow. I hope he does so he can feel a big diff and love his new gears.
If he has 2.73's does he need a new carrier/diff.? In my Z I needed to buy a 3 series carrier so this is why I am asking this.
Also, where is the best place to get a new speedo gear and which gear do we need(how many teeth)?
Any recommendations on what oil to use in this 8.8?
Thanks again for all the help.
