Default 70mm or 75mm TB, which one for a stock engine?

Have some extra cash and i know I've always been told dont get a bigger throttle body on a stock engine unless you have one laying around or something but I'm 19 and I have a $10\hr cook job and will never see 3 grand for a blower or even 1 grand for a head swap cause i have have small amounts of money at certain points and it goes fast so i just want the smaller things, gears are next week i hope it wont be more then 400 with gears and install but i can do 200 for a bigger throttle body and whats up with the cold air intake, if i buy one before I get the throttle body will it still hook up to the bigger throttle body cause it comes made for the stock TB which is smaller, thanks for any input

If you HAVE to get a t/b, get the 70mm....

My suggestion would be for some pullies instead....

The power increase on a stock engine with either the 70 or 75mm unit is about the same (very small). You might notice a bit crisper throttle response, but that's about it....

Most CAI kits use a somewhat stretchable (usually rubber) sleeve to attach to the throttle body, so you shouldn't have a problem (no promises now...)

Yes 65mm is stock on the 96+ cars and anything bigger is simply overkill on NA motors. Stock 5.0's came with 55mm and upgrade to 65mm when going to blowers. I've seen cars actually lose power with 70mm TB.

See that's the problem, a TB that is too large will give you more air.......air you don't really need. The power killer is that too large of a TB kills velocity which is very important.

Even a stock 5.0 picks up HP with a 65mm TB. Most 5.0's with blowers have 70-80MM TB's

I put a 75mm throttle body on my practically stock '02 GT and man I lost a lot of power. I now have a blower and am looking to go with a 70mm. I would loose power with a 75mm, even with a blower. I wouldn't change the throttle body if I was you. It will slow the vilocity of the air down. Unless you have forced induction or nitrous I wouldn't mess with it. The bigger throttle bodies only are bigger on the inside, the out side is virtually the same diameter. It's hard to get power without investing a lot into your car, at least with my experiance. You should probably save up for a nitrous kit. Zex makes a kit for your car that was tested by MM&FF and turned out good results. It's adjustable up to 150HP. If you run the kit at a 75 shot you should be fine and feel a big difference in performance. I think pricing is around $500-$700. Other weis you might want to talk to a performance shop who has experiance with your kind of car.

I stand corrected on the stock size and yes they do pick up going to a 65mm but 70mm's are overkill on a NA 5.0.
