(*yes i must have cats i'm sorry lol) for the above wat brand is reccomended....does mac make a prochamber with cats? also....Nitrous.........can my unmodified engine handle a kit of about 100 hp or will i mess it up? wat amount of hp boost is reccomended for my unmoded engine (it only has 30 k miles on it) and wat brand nitrous kit is good now? stinger? ![]() My Tbird is pretty close in weight to your 'vert (although you're still lighter,) and we have the same drive train, so I hope I can help.
Your 1/4 time is probably going to be between 15.3-15.5. But thats cool, we can get that down w/o any problems. As far as how to launch, I find that the best launches seem to be right above idle. I guess it best because it lets the torque convertor "hit" the tires a bit harder. I powerbrake to around 800rpm and let the car do the rest. The second that third yellow lights up, hit the gas and thats it. Since you have a stock tranny (no chip or shift kit) you may get better times by manual shifts. If you haven't manual shifted before, the track may not be the best place to learn, but its something you can try if you want. Ohh yeah, take it out of overdrive, just incase your car want to shift, but it shouldn't, you won't be shifting out of 2nd untill 80mph anyway. Most say the H makes more low end and the X-makes more top end, and I have seen dynos that makes that statement seem pretty true, but I also seen the oppsite on occasion. Its really going to be up to you and what you want to spend. You should look into a set of underdrive pulleys for more torque. Also, bumping your timing usually give some nice low end torque numbers too. You can do that through a timing adjuster, but I would recogmend a chip, because you'll want the other added benefits like reworked tranny funtions, etc. As for nitrous, I just ordered up the ZEX kit, and I am only going to run a 55-75 shot. the only changes I am going to do is get my chip reburnt, run colder plugs an tstat, and the run 93 + octane booster whan I am going to spray. Your engine can handle up to a 125 shot, provided you give it more fuel. You would want at least a bigger fuel pump (190lph would work great) and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Then you also want to think about a window swith and other safety feature when running that much HP increase. Also, our intakes were built to flow air, not liquid. There have been alot of problems with people running wet kit (adds nitrous and fuel) and blowing up their intake manifold. Thats why I went with a dry (adds nitrous only, but you better make sure your fuel system can add the extra fuel) setup. The only wet kit I would get would be a direct port system, and the only kit like that I know is the NOS NOSzel system. Its expensive, but proably the safest, most powerful setup right now. Your goign to have more questions, so feel free to ask away.
