Off road pipe vs. Catalitic Pipe

I want to buy a pipe with no catalitic converters and switch between the pipe w/cats and the pipe with no cats. I would put the pipe on with cats for smog purposes, and keep the off road pipe on at all other times. Will this throw off my computer to the point that I have to get it recalibrated every time I switch? Thanks!

I just changed over to a Mac Off Road H-Pipe, You have to get a set of MIL's to fool the computer they go on the rear O2 sensors.

What year is your car? I've never had any problems switching back and forth, when I had to do emissions!

There shouldn't be any problems at all if your stang is 95 or older, the newer stangs have to have the MIL elimanator like mentioned before. Good luck! If you order an off road pipe remember you get what you pay for, Flowtech sent me an off road pipe but it had no hangers for support on one car, I ordered another Flowtech for my GT and it broke at the weld in the middle of the X pipe after about 100 miles. Go Basani or BBK.

I have an 88 5.0 GT. My dad is telling me I will have to recalibrte my computer each time I switch back and forth because I wont have any O2 sensors. If I am able to buy something to trick the computer into thinking I'm still running O2 sensors let me know the name of the part and possibly the cost (if anyone knows). I was also thinking of getting a high flow Cat H pipe, do you think that will give me the loud exhaust sound I'm looking for?? I have a pair of Flowmasters (I dont know what style) and I am looking for a good cat back system to go with the H pipe I'm getting.

Even the off-raod pipes run 02 sensors. You don't have to worry.

i love my mac off road h-pipe. made my car alot louder which is what i wanted, but the downside to it is that no local shops will work on it.

yes, all the off-roads I've seen have ports for your o2 sensors
