Question 96 Cobra Gears

I have a 96 Cobra and someone suggested to me that I should put in new gears. Could someone please give me a suggestion on what type of gears I should get to give me the greatest boost in acceleration and what kind of results I can expect. Thank you very much.

Cool

After-market gears are a great mod for our 4.6s....

Hmmm, I don't know what gear ratio comes stock on the Cobra's, so I really don't know if the 3.73 ratio will be a good choice for you (It definately wouldn't hurt....)

Let's see if we can hang on to find some other Snake owners, as I have heard that some snakes can take 4.10s without effecting streetability too much....

Any snake drivers out there?

Man, I get this one a lot.

Cobras come stock with 3.27s only. I run 4.10s on my car, which is my only transportation, and they work quite well. Initially I lost some milage, but after I learned how to drive with 'em I maybe lost 1 mpg.

A lot of other people people favor the 4.30, because it lets you run in 4th a little longer before the finish line in the 1/4 which helps pick up a little in trap speed.

With 4.10s or 4.30s people typically pick up around .3 in the quarter. A friend of mine went from 13.2 to 12.89 when going from 3.73s to 4.10s in his bolt-on only 96 Cobra.

Hope this helps.

I run 4.10's, daily driver, snow or no snow(preferabley no snow) you just cant drive nuts when theres a few inches of snow on the ground, great choice I think, I have not noticed any loss in mpg.
