96 Cobra Supercharger questions
I have a 96 Cobra and I am very interested in
putting a supercharger in it. But, not knowing a whole lot about cars, I don't know what the implications of a supercharger would be. I've heard many things ranging from it'll blow up my engine to it won't matter at all. Could someone please tell me whether or not my car can handle a supercharger and if it can what else do I need to do to it to make it fit for a supercharger. |

You can do it but be careful. I would upgrade the fuel system with larger injectors and a fuel management unit. You should also get a timing retard device that could reduce the chance for detonation in your engine. The pistons are weak in our cars so fuel and timing are the biggest concerns. Keep the boost moderate and you should be o.k. The one time you do detonate is usually deadly to the 4.6 though. Call Sean Highland Motorsports in Ontario Canada. He is pretty much the expert on the Cobra DOHC. good luck! Lance

I'm planning on doing the same thing to my '97. It can be done reliably. For an 8# kit, you need 30# injectors, fuel regulator, and a 155 lph fuel pump.
If the car is kept in tune, then a supercharger is a very reliable upgrade. I would also reconmend turning the timing back, and not running more then 8# of boost. The whole kit will cost around $3000, not including installation, and is good for 120 +- hp. ------------------ '97 Cobra, K&N, Flowmaster, subframes, 4.10 gears, Steeda Tri-Ax shifter, Steeda G-Trac 3, Cobra R wheels w/ Goodyear F1s |

Use a 190 lph pump, such as the T-Rex. Not a 155.

Re: 96 Cobra Supercharger questions
Both the other posts have very good info
Depends on the type of blower and the size, pressure and what not. Do your reserch I don't know where you are - I'm in Hot-Lanta there are several business down here that specialize in installations. A 5-pound boost is going to give you a 100 pony's - add that to what you already got, divide that by 2 and again by 6 and you got the smallest size fuel pump in Gallons Per Hour that you need. Now you really have to know what the pump in the tank is doing. What size fuel lines are on your car. Because if that stuff is to small you got serious problems. With this deal the blind cannot lead the blind - make sure you know what you're doing before you jump into it. Denny@JDS Induction Products - HeadDoctor out |

Duce -Nice Yellow Paint
Where in Hot-Lanta are you? I'm in Fayetteville One Question - How do you know that will cure his problem? He makes it perfectly clear that he knows nothing and you give him a "Pat" answer. Are you really trying to help or do you just like to hear yourself talk? How long have you been racing? That should about cover it - Don't you think! Denny@JDS Induction Products HeadDoctor out |
