AWD turbo eclipse 18 psi vs. 01' cobra
Heres how it went down.
His car- 95' AWD Turbo eclipse running 18 psi of boost with 3 inch exhaust and a supra intercooler. My car- 01' Cobra with K&N etc... We met on another website and we live in the same town so naturally we set up a little friendly race. I gave him my cell number and after I got off work he gave me a call and I met him at his house. When I pulled up I told him this is the car I am gonna race. It looked like a bone stock regular old eclipse. He said yeah he was going for the sleeper look I told him we could run at this place I know outside of town. He told me to lead the way, The entire way to the spot everytime he shifted I heard this Whoosh!! sound from his blow off valve. We got to the spot and lined them up. I told him to honk three times and we would go. I dont even rev my car up to launch cause I gotta slip the hell outta the clutch at about 2000 rpms to get a descent launch. So I was sitting there and he revved his car up and it was bouncing off the limiter with a loud turbo whine I was looking right at him as he honked the horn cause I didnt want him to get the jump. He honked once, twice and when I seen his hand droip for the 3rd honk I took off. He leaped off the line and took me by 2 maybe 2 1/2 cars right from the jump. I finally hooked in first gear and stopped his pull. I then shifted into second and started reeling him in. I pulled even with him as I chirped 3rd and pulled ahead by a car. I stayed in it till 100 MPH and shut down cause I knew that was about 1/4 mile. 2nd race he beat me worse off the lind and I took him by 1/2 a car. 3rd race I finally got my act together and launched the car without any spin and I took him by almost 2 cars. These were the funnest closest races I have ever had. he was a cool guy and didnt ***** about losing afterwards. He took me for a ride in his car and man that car launches hard!!!! It pulls real hard in 1st and slows down in 2nd and 3rd. I then took him for a ride in my car, It dont launch anything like his but he was impressed with the way my car pulls once it gets going. It was lots of fun next time we will get it on tape. Later,

I love close races. I've had a few where you just kill some ricer, after time it's just like, why waste the gas? But when you get someone who can run hard, side by side with you, that's what gets me going! Great races and congrats on the wins. ~Brian

Sounds like a fun run, those AWD turbo cars are hell from a stop, its just a matter of staying somewhat close, then wait for the power to pull them up top.
