Question stock gear ratio on '97GT?

Does anyone know what the stock gear ratio is for a '97GT with manual transmission? Is it 2.73:1 or 3.27:1?...

I believe it's actually 3.08. The auto's came with 3.27, and the manuals with 3.08. I think. I used to own a 97 GT auto, and it had 3.27 gears.

I believe the 2.73's were standard and the 3.27's were optional. I'am sure they aren't 3.08's-those were in the Foxes. My '97 GT has 2.73's and it's auto. If your not sure, put it on a lift and look at the differential cover(It's usually there). Somewhere on the differential there should be a label which tells what gears you have. Better yet, screw the stock gears and get some 3.73's from FRPP!

I'm definately all over bailing on the stock gears. I plan on going with the 3.73s. (I do a lot of freeway miles.) I was only curious what the stock gears are as a starting point of reference.

SLOW 97 is right. 2.73's stock and 3.27's optional. i was lucky that my car had the 3.27's. what i did to check was lifted the car, spun a rear tire once, and saw how many times the driveshaft spun. happened to be about 3 1/4 times...
