I smell fuel when I turn the dang a/c on now, but when I lift my hood I don't smell a bit of fuel in the engine bay or anywhere for that matter...Any suggestions???

I use to have the same prob with my '97. It used to happen only on the very hot days, but then my motor would run very hot, almot would overheat. Nobody really could tell me why. I had it at ford over 5-6 time for that same issue and all they coul tell me was that everything check out ok.

You should NEVER smell fuel in your car, I dont think. Get that checked out. Maybe you have an exhaust leak.

I think you need to take it in... Mine doesn't come close to doing anything like that. My car doesn't get close to overheating even with the A/C on for long periods in blazing heat and my compressor doesn't come on as often as yours.

Ok...thanks for the replies, but let me clear something up quickly. The car does not overheat, comes nowhere near overheating. Its just that I smell fuel only when the a/c is on and the a/c compressor kicks on every 3-5 seconds. Thanks for the replies guys!
