Default i need mods!

ok, i just got my car recently and i already want to start modding it! (of course ) ... i was hoping maybe you guys could point me in the right direction if i tell you my goal... which is to have a sharp looking smooth driving car putting out about 300-350hp N/A, but setup for maybe a supercharger and/or nos later on. the only things i have done are a flowmaster exhaust and the air intake silencer removed i have a bit to go .... the things im thinking i will get soon will be a new shifter (maybe a hurst) and new gears (~3.73), and a K&N filter... after these im stumped. i dont know a whole lot about engines but im willing to and want to learn. would i want to get some new heads and/or intake next? which engine mods will i need to achieve the 300-350hp? i just want to set some goals for myself so i can start to save up and know what im going to buy im sure everyone will have a different opinion, but all opinions are welcome! thanks.

Welcome aboard...

You may want to check out the forum FAQ when you get a chance. Also try out the search function within mod madness. There's tons of stuff previously discussed...

Gears and shifter are a good start...

Some pullies and an X\H-pipe are good bolt ons.

Also, don't forget that you have to get that HP to the ground... upper and lower control arms and some sub-frame connectors are a good idea

Being an early modular, you definately want to look into some new heads and maybe the bullit intake...

That's it off the top of my head...

As with any V8 Mustang you need more air and more fuel!

Starting at the air filter:

K&N air filter
Larger MAF (75 mm)
Bigger TB
Bullit Intake
PI heads
Not sure what kind of cams are in the PI Heads, but you may want to consider a custom grind
24 lb injectors
Larger Fuel pump
Shifter
3.73 gears
Headers (shorty's will work)
X/H-pipe (2-1/2")
Cat back (2-1/2") - any brand will work

Top it off with a custom tuned chip.

That will give you the most bang for your N/A car.

thanks guys between the two of you i have a great idea of what im headed for... just one last thing 95mustanggt is the list you gave also the order you would/i should get them in for best performance? im mostly worried now about what things i need to get before other things will work effeciently, like would i want to get a bigger TB and larger MAF before i have a new intake? wouldnt i want an exhaust first. are there certain things i would need to get on that last more or less at the same time, like when i get the intake should i get the MAF and TB at the same time? just not sure..

I more or less started at the front of the car and worked back.

I would start with the exhaust first.
Then add some gears.
Then K&N and TB (avoid the MAF because you'll have to get it recalibrated for larger injectors)
Then Heads/Cams/Intake and fuel system and a MAF
Then add your suspension items:
Rear Upper and Lower Control arms
Shocks and struts
Springs
etc.

You could do the heads or intake on there own, but if you are going that far, might as well do the rest.

You can do things one at a time, but the best combo is built with the TOTAL package in mind. Therefore if you try and space everything out you may end up hurting performance for a while and have to fork out some more money to redo things (Like recalibrate an MAF or get a new chip)

As far as horse power from that, Hammer would be the guy to ask, IMO.

If I remember right he was high 200's (270-290) at the rear wheels in his 98 before the S/C, but then I don't know if he had an intake yet.

To get 300+rwhp out of your '97 you are going to need heads, cams, and an intake underneath all of those bolt-ons.
