4cyl times and #'s??
I have a 89 4cyl notch that I need to know 0-60 times, 1/4miles times, and any other times that might help me get off a speeding ticket. The cop said I was doing 47 in a 30, but I know that's false and its hard to fight when he said it was radared! I was driving up a hill and made a complete stop almost at the top, for the truck in front of me to turn. As I crested the top there the cop was sitting with his lights on, I passed and he then pulled me over. I know there is no way I could have been going that fast from where I started. Not to mention that it snowed out that morning, and the roads were still icy in spots. Damn cops and the quota's!!!!!!!

You should of asked him to see the radar. I know here in Ontario if you get a speeding ticket you can request to see the radar to prove the speed you were doing. I know if I ever get pulled over I will ask to see it just to verify. As for times, I'm not to sure sorry.

88hp@4000rpm, 132lb/ft@2600rpm. Curb weight, about 2800lbs for the hatch or coupe.
Expect 0-60 times to be around 11sec for the non-verts. Maybe a little quicker with the stick. It's slow as molasses in January. I've had 2-88LX Hatchs with the 2.3L and A4LD auto, I know all about it, hehe. You were cresting a hill? If he got you on radar, you should be scott free. The radar would not only measure your vehicles physical speed, but also the change in direction over the crest. If it's lazer, it will be much harder to defend. Show up, and try to get the prosecutor to keep it off your record by making it unreasonable acceleration, or something that doesn't go on your insurance record. |

Radar hassle
I don't have any hard data on the quarter-mile et/ 0-60 mph times for the '89 2.3 Mustang (hard to find as no one cares) but I would guess that it's around 19-20 seconds in the quarter-mile and probably 12 seconds or more 0-60.
88 HP doesn't do much and they don't get better with age. |

What you need is a lawyer. You won't get off convincing a judge of the technical inaccuracy of radar.
Where you will prevail is with the legal expertise of a good lawyer. You will need to pay the lawyer's fee of course. Good representation is usually worth the money. Rev

I'm sure I could get off with representation, but its really not worth it. The ticket is only $75 and I would more then likely pay out my butt for a lawyer.
Someone was telling me that they have to keep records at city hall of radar calibrations, and when they were last done in that town. If that's true would that work to my advantage if it wasn't done in a while of improperly?

Radar is not accurate unless it's tracking a target moving in a straight line because it can compound speeds.
No lawyer is going to be able to do **** for you. They are worthless in traffic court, although they may be able to get you a better plea bargain. |

A. Laugh at you, and write you a ticket. B. Get upset, and write you a ticket. or C. Write you a ticket. For a $75 ticket.... Don't get a lawyer, most of them charge at least $500. Just go up there and talk to the prosecutor, and see what you can do to keep it off our record. Most of the time the prosecutor's will work with you and are fairly cool about it all. Community service, def. driving, etc....maybe not even that. |

Every time a friend of mine (thank goodness not myself yet!) has brought a lawyer to court, its been worth the expense. You could always try going yourself, then appealing with a lawyer. Good Luck! |

Whoops, forgot to add this...
I remember a few years back, a 4 cyl notch (Project White Trash) running ~22s in the 1/4 before they sprayed and destroyed the 2.3L mill |
