99 Cobra's ???

I'm looking at possibly buying a used 99 Cobra. It's white w/ tan leather 5spd 42000mi. The dealer is asking $17000. I know the 99 cobras had a problem w/ producing the claimed hp and ford had to make a fix for it ... How do i tell if it was done. Did 99 Cobras have anyother problems? What should I look for? Any advice you guys could give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm no expert on the 99' Cobra...a carfax will show you if it has been done (you can do a free VIN check, if you search hard enough). For that price or a tad more you could probably find a 2001 Cobra with less miles...Patience will pay off in the long run...

I checked Kelly Blue Book, and some other sites and they all valued the car at about the same Dealer price. 17500-17000
I was able to get a full carfax report for free. The only thing that cought my attention was that is was first registered as a commercial vehicle for the 3 yrs 38000 miles and then sold and registered as a fleet vehicle for 4000 miles. Used 2001 Cobras are rare.

Rare? Have you checked the Mustang trader?

There's plenty of them around here anyhow....
