Post 99 GT, auto tranny rebuild

I have a 99 GT with about 28,000 miles on it. I have the 4R70W auto transmission and had to have the tranny rebuild at about 22,000 miles because of a shudder/shaking when shifting, mainly at easy acceleration. Technician found metal in the pan and did a rebuild. Now at 28,000 or so miles it is starting to happen again. Anyone have suggestions (besides repacing with a manual)? Has anyone experienced any auto tranny troubles with the new automatic? I drive it hard at times but it should be able to take it.

I guess your under warranty. Ask the service manager about a (new) trans not a rebuild. If there not taking the trans completly apart and cleaning it, they are waisting your time. New converter too. I would'nt accept anything less. Write Ford a letter if you have too. Try to be nice to them it might pay off.

Agree w/pushing Ford for a new one incl converter. Just FYI, check baumannengineering.com for good ford auto trans info - they also answer email - maybe they can tell you what's up so you can go into Ford informed.

I seem to remember reading there was some factory defect in the converters - maybe the lockup clutch mechanism or something ?

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I've emailed Baumann Engineering as well for any info. I'd like to use them as soon as the warranty is out..or maybe sooner if this keeps up.

It's definitly in the Torque converter, I had the same problem with my 95. I cured mine by repeated fluid changes to clean it out, you having a warranty should get it replaced.
