Question New Differential..Please Help

Hi guys, I am swapping to a 4.6L V8 Cobra engine and a T-45 tranny. I was wondering what I should do with the rear end. Should I change the gears to 3.73, 4.10, or to 4.30? I was thinking about going with the 3.73's because everyone I talked to said they were the best. But recently I read that the 4.10's or even the 4.30's offer the best acceleration and are fine for a daily driver. The article I read said that you could drive at 80mph down the road with the 4.10's and be only at 2800rpms, which doesn't seem that bad. I'm really new to this and I want a car that accelerates hard, but I also want a daily driver. What gears should I go with?
Also, should I just change the gears or should I change the entire differential? I was thinking of Auburn Locking Differentials from steeda, but I don't know anything about it.
Please help, I have no clue what to get. I want a car that can be a daily driver, but that will also accelerate hard (I don't mind a little whiplash ).

Go with the 4.30's and an Eaton Posi. This will offer good traction and it is a lot more durable than the factory Ford Traction-Lok differential. The Saleen Max-Grip differential is pretty trick I hear too but is quite expensive. I think it is a little over $1000. Not sure how much but go here for info about it http://www.saleen.com/store2000/set1.asp.

Default Thanks

Thanks, I'll probably go with the an Eaton Posi, however, I can't find one that is 28 spline. That is what I need right? Where can I find one? I checked steeda, and all they have is the 31 spline one.

If your only swapping out the differential then I would say wait till you have the cash to change axles as well. There isn't much of a market for 28 spline differentials. When someone goes to a better diff it's usually to upgrade axles as well.

Yeah get the 31-spline Eaton with 31-spline Moser axles. 31-splines are much better and stronger than the 28-spline axles. The 28's are what come stock.
