any way to advance timing on a 4.6 withouth timing adjuster or chip??

this question popped up the other day....could you take a 4.6 to a ford dealorship and have them do it with their computer?...and if they can ,would they do it? it would nice to be able to do this with out payin the 170 bucks for the steeda timing adjuster...and if someone were gonna do this would 14 degrees be an ideal setting for a decent gain on any 96 to present....when i had my 98 at 14 i noticed a good seat of the pants kick. thanks

There are two ways.

1. Get someone to reflash your chip. Kind or risky though, as if they screw up, you're toast.

2. www.uprproducts.com They have a timing adjuster which is similar to the old style Steeda unit, and easier to use than the new steeda one. And its only $100 shipped. At least mine was.

put a 100K ohm resistor in your IAT sensor connector. it tells the pcm it's like 29*F outside and advances your timing about 3 deg. cost is like 99 cents at radio shack! I eventually bought a steeda unit and got the best results at 5 deg. adv. 15 deg. base timing. fyi.
