First ticket. Sucks, sucks bad.
I was coming home from a concert in another town tonight with a friend. I came up to a stoplight in this little town outside the city. As i was leaving the stoplight i kinda broke he tires loose and they squeled. Well a few seconds later guess what i saw in my rear view...............Yes, those famous red and blue lights loved by mustang owners everywhere. Well I pull over hoping to get a warning since i have never had a ticket before. Well, i got a ticket instead. I was expecting it to be in he neighborhood of 100-120$. It wasn't. He wrote $235 on the ticket. I just got a $235 ticket for "Driving in a manor not reasonable or proper."

Ouch....a $235 burnout, which probably wasn't even a burnout...just a little screech to clean the dust off the tires, right?...You should have just said you were doing it for your own safety, because your tires were dirty and slick and you just needed to clean them off a little........$235 though...that stings....sorry to hear about that.

Ouch, try getting a $325 (Cad) Carless driving ticket for going 20km over the speed limit. (Also resulted me getting into a accident but none the less) but I'm fighting it I don't loose my licence.

A $235 ticket is completely unreasonable.
Don't know what the tickets go for down there, but I'm betting $235 is way steep. What a *******. |

*Getting ready to type....hears Manheim Steamroller X-mas music in the background that my mom JUST turned on....head drops.....bangs onto computer desk....stings really bad....results in headache, from both the music and the head knock....*
That really sucks.... Now that I think about that, $235 does seem pretty steep....are you going to fight it? Or at least try to get it lessened? |

Bad deal. I wouldn't just roll over for this.
Consider fighting it in court; talk to someone in the prosecutors office or whatever they call it in your neck of the woods. Request a reduction in charge or else plead not guilty and attempt to argue in court that the charge is excessive for the offense. Worth a shot and nothing to lose. I did this once on a Reckless Driving charge that was combined with a speeding charge (85 in a 50 -I was drag racing, actually) and got the Reckless Driving dismissed by just pleading guilty to speeding. Huge difference in fine and license points. Last year I simply mailed in a Not Guilty plea to a charge of 'Improper Lane Change' and it was nolled (dismissed) without my ever showing up or anything. Never just accept traffic charges as a done deal; it's a flexible system and often you can get a break just by asking for it with no lawyers or trials necessary. Sometimes not. You won't know if you don't try. |

I am definately not going to just roll over on a 235 dollar ticket. 235 bucks is really unreasonable I think the cop thought that since i was from out of town that i would just mail the money in rather than show up for court. I think im going to pead no contest and let the judge know that this is my first ticket and see if he/she won't reduce the fine. Im open for suggestions . Thanks for the response by the way.
P.S. The court house is actually the library in this little town. Thought that was kinda funny.

1. You screwed up, you live and learn, just pay the ticket. 2. You can go to court and try to fight it, more than likely your going to LOSE. After your first court appearance, you'll probably have a trial, with a jury and everything. The cop is going to show up, and it's your word against his, and who do you think is going to win? This is how it works, at least around here.... if you try and fight it, they'll set another court date, then they'll notify the cop. If he doesn't show up,(which most of the time they do 99% around here.) Anyway let's say you take it to court and you fight it, say they lessen it to $150, you still have to pay court cost, and then your out most of the days work. So either way it's going to cost you, probably a little more if you fight it. Just pay the freakin ticket, it'll also be less of a hassle, yeah $235 is alot, but....you did do the crime....... |

The point is, whether he exactly did the crime or not, that fine is excessive for such a traffic violation (now he is in Canada so I personally don't know what diff would be). Now, if you burned your tires and put smoke all over the ******* roadway while straying out of your lane, now then, that is a diff story. But if it was, as you claimed, a little squeak , then.....
Personally, I wouldn't take that crap. Go through the court system and at least learn something. Too many people just say, "oh well, I'd never win so I better not try *pout, pout boo hoo* and so they have no idea how to deal with it if it happens again, they just say "Poor me, I'd never be able to win, so I'll just pay the $13,834,857,640,000 fine. Naaaaaah. I dunno, maybe not being the richest person on the block gives me this type of mentality...

I say put some donut tires on your rear, go down to the court house and LIGHT EM UP! Serouisly though, I'd fight it. Thats ridiculous for such a petty infraction of the law. |

How about we don't assume he's lying 1BAD89. You weren't there, you never will be, you'd never know for sure...so I don't see the relevance of your accusations. The whole point of this thread is to see how he can get the fine reduced, not whether he did the crime or not, and we are not here to judge our fellow mustang owners. Cops can be dicks, so I dont even know why we are arguing about this.
BTW...red with white racing stripes? That is exactly why my car is charcoal gray now instead of red |
