Post Axle Ratio

I got a question for you Mustang gurus.
I have a 98 and on the placard on the door, it says that my Axle code is BM.
Can anyone tell me what the hell this code is? I think it is 2.73, but sure.

Thanks,
Steve K

Your 98 came stock with 2.73.
If you bought the car new & didn't ask for the upgrade to 3.27 then the best bet is you have 2.73.
You can look on the rear end cover.
On it you will see a small metal tag that will tell you what it is.
Good luck.

Thanks for the reply.

I called the Ford dealer and they had no idea. And you are correct. I got so frustrated that I jacked up the rear end and rotated the wheel.... And sure enough, the U-Joint turns 2 and 3/4 turns. I think I ended up with 2.73. Looks like I will have to get 3.73.
DO I have to get the gear to correct the speedometer error? If so where do I get this?

Thanks,
Steve K

i thought all the 98's had 327's? look on that little tag connected to cover(bolt) it will say like 2L73=273's limited slip or 3L27=327's limited slip. either way 373's are the way to go! take it easy.
