Post Good night at the track, but idiots wet down starting line

Friday night at HRP it was perfect for test & tune. 50-60 F and dry. The track is at sea level. After tech inspection I waited around for a few minutes and got in line. I was lined up against a turbo Supra so figured to lose pretty bad. What happened at the starting line totally surprised me. My car normally hooks well even on street radials, spinning for 10-15 ft. and then total traction. That didn't happen this time. All I did was spin with the car getting sideways and the engine over reving. I let off, straightened her out and got back in it. Same thing again, so I gave up and just puttered down to the exit turn off.

Seems that idiots before me had driven directly into the water box in their fwd Hondas and done pathetic little burn outs all the way to the starting line. This of course dragged water all the way to the line.

I wasn't aware of all this as it occurred a couple of cars ahead of me. When I launched, it was just as if I had floored it on a wet street. I think track officials may have put a stop to that crap as my later runs were my best e.t.'s ever, 13.95 and 13.96.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? It was a 1 st for me.

That's gotta be one of my bigggest track pet peeves.I have seen the same thing before too many times.

The track officials should put a stop to it. If you let them know about the problem & how unsafe it is, maybe they'll put a stop to it next time.

Man, the last time I went to the track which was a few months ago, I left highly pissed off just b/c of what you are talking about.

Out of say 4 runs, I only got good traction the second to last run and was highly discouraged by then. The water problem wasn't due to weak burnouts, however. The main reason was b/c the track officials didn't do their job well. They freakin sprayed too much water in the burnout area and it drained all the way across the staging area. No matter how I tried, unless I picked up the car and tip-toed over the water, there was no way to avoid it. I tried burning it off (with my new tires mind you), but I was like "Screw this man , I shouldn't have to be wasting my tires". So I left pissed off. Havent' been back since. (but I will go back soon, when I get the gears installed)

Yep, I bet the guy in his brand new turbo Supra about had to change his undies when he looked over and saw me pointed right at him with my Flows whining at 6000 rpm. Of course thats when I let off and straighted her out. Hee, hee.

I've noticed that import guys REALLY get off on burnouts. If you find an import that will sit and smoke the tires it seems to impress the import crowd something terrible.

It turns out this little episode ruined the clutches in my Traction-lock. Now my limited slip differential is "completely slip" differential. Anyone know how hard it is to replace that clutch pack? Or maybe I should ask that in the Windsor forum?

I got the same problem. Only one tire pulling. Gonna get a friend of mine to replace 'em within the month. It sucks. I know.
