best of the mod-powereds?
As you may know from the Lounge, the clean green machine was stolen and recovered recently. Don't know if they're gonna rebuild her or try to buy me out. I'm looking at newer Mustangs just in case, as the bank will finance more on a newer car.
My questions: how do the 4.6s stack up year-to-year? I've heard mixed reviews on some of the earlier cars in the run (96-98), but don't know if this has any merit or not. Are these easier/more difficult/same to do typical underhood stuff than the 5.0s? What kind of power are we looking at stock? Any help is much appreciated... ------------------ Greg bits and pieces of a 91 LX Convertible |

96-98 2V 4.6's were rated at 215hp, while the 99+ are rated at 260hp. If you buy an earlier 4.6, you will need to do the 99+ head swap to get good power out of it.
There is less difference in the 4V 4.6's - 305hp rating for 96-98, 320hp for the 99 and 01. |

Technically the 98s came with 225hp due to computer upgrades. |
