I would like to help, but I do not see this making any differences. It is like the "No gas days" they just plain to not work.

I've heard rumors to that effect last fall, but I have a hard time imagining prices going up that fast. Here in California a gallon of 89 octane is going for about $1.75, though I see that mustang145 is from Illinois, where they had some of the worst gas prices last year.
Hate to rain on anyone's parade, but we Americans don't realize how good we have it. Some places in Europe sell gas for the equivalent of $3-5 per gallon. Gasoline is a non-renewable resource (or at least, it takes much longer than our lifetimes to renew). As more people use it and supply shrinks, the price is naturally going to go up. Short of using less, the situation is out of our control. ------------------ Greg 91 LX Convertible |

True, imports do run on rice, which is a renewable resource. I just don't have enough time to cook wild rice for the high octane requirements of the performance group. Really, the only cars that will run on Minute Rice are too slow for my taste.
Thanks for the advice though, inferno! Gas yesterday was 1.34/gal for 87 in MN. I cannot see prices going over double in the next month. I think you may have seen forecasts based on the decreased production last year before opec decided to open the valve like .021358% or something. |

Prices here in PA are pretty cheap right now. About $1.35 for 87. Man, I remember a few short years ago when 87 octane was $0.87!! Well, I guess there is no where to go from here but up

He pays 3 a gallon b/c he lives in il. They
have to have a special gas or something. You should all move to NC. Reg is 1.29, Mid is 1.39 at a certian gas station..all the others around here want 1.38 for regular. And it is not a hole in the wall gas station. It is a new company in this area. Gotta love it when they build new ones and sell it cheap for a while. And the no gas day is just plain stupid, I mean so what, you are just gonna stop the day before or after so you have enough, so in the long run the sales even out for the gas companies. ------------------ 94 Mustang Cobra: off-road h-pipe, 3:73 gears, motersports underdrive pulleys, MAC cold air induction, MAC 1 1/2 inch lowering springs, K&N Air filter, Maximum Motersports caster/camber plates. steeda tri-ax shifter, Motorsports King Cobra Clutch with Steeda Cable Linkage.(its a gripper!) 94 Thunderbird SC: only mod is a K&N air filter. But she runs very well and hard. |

Well, it's hovering around $1.28/gal here in SE Michigan and NW Ohio. I just can't see it going up to $3/gal, that's insane!!! Do you realize how many people wouldn't be able to get to work any more? Hell, I'd just fill up and drive off if that happened...not that I've done that before, though. IMHO, I think we'd be bombing the arab coutries @$$ if that kind of price was set, and don't tell me that OPEC doesn't have a total monopoly on oil and setting prices. I believe GW was onto something when he said we need to explore Alaska in the near future. I'm still gonna be driving my 5.0L no matter what.

$3.00/gal???? Somebody done told you wrong man. Did you get that from one of those email chain letters? Stop buying for a day, a while? So what'll you do, stock up on gas? You'll end up spending the same amount in the long run. Believe me, it truly pisses me off too. Especially since they shot up right after I built my gas guzzler. But I don't think the stop-buying-gas method's gonna work. ------------------------------- '79 Mustang Coup 4" Cowl Weld wheels (15x6;15x8) Stock 5.8L C4 w/ shift kit 1.5" MAC full length headers Holley 750 CFM Edelbrock intake 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters 8.8" Rear end w/ 3.55 gears (Now that's more like it!!) Gas where I live is $1.61/gallon for 93 octane, $2.50 for 100 octane, $3.75 for 120 octane, and $5.00 for 150 octane. I think that is ok, it was better when I firat started driving when it was $.97 for 93 octane.
