bigger tires or drag radials

I need new tires but i have a couple questions...what is the largest tire you can fit on pony rims...16 inch?? If i go with a bigger tire, will that help me get more traction at the track or should i go with drag radials...what would be the best drag radial to get for 16 inch rims?
Also need to get a new clutch...whats should i go with?..
should i also get a new shifter, if so what kind?
Thanks for the help!! :)

IMO, The 245/50zr16 should fit pretty good out back. I would stick to a regular street tire, but a good one, like BFG's or Yokohama. Both are equally priced. Street slicks hook great but don't expect much life out of the tire. Clutch, well I bought the Ford racing HD for about $160 bucks, been good to me but wouldn't mind havin' the "king cobra" for 'bout $189. it has a little more holding power and lighter pedal feel. Centerforce stage II is a little more $$$ but holds alot more power. Drove a '93 cobra had one, it was harder to press in than my HD. Oh yeah, don't forget to get your flywheel turned, it'll make that new clutch wear out way early if you don't, definately worth the $30!!

your pony rims are 7.5" right? 245 is the biggest you can go w/ out some major bowing of the sidewall. as far as shifter, i gotta recommend the pro 5.0...i love it, was probably my single fav mod (except for the blower). also heard steeda tri-ax is good. good luck.

BF Goodrich drag radials will definetly improve your ET over regular street tires, but will wear out quicker.
