Default boost gauge

what is the purpose of the boost gauge that some folks put in there car? What does it measure? Is there any advantage to having one installed in a 91 5.0 with an aod?

thanks

a boost gauge is used to measure the amount of boost a supercharger or turbo makes if you get a combo boost/ vacuum gauge it shows engine vacuum when driving and boost as the supercharger/turbo builds it but unless you have a supercharger or turbo there is no need for a boost gauge and if your interested in vacuum just get a vacuum gauge.

basically, ditto.

Your engine creates vacuum when it's running, and that vacuum is an excellent diagnostic tool, which justifies getting a vacuum gauge. When you install a forced induction system (blower or turbo), the vacuum is overcome by the boost from the blower/turbo, and now you need a boost gauge. Without a blower or a turbo, a boost gauge is nothing more than a 11k tach is to a stock Civic.

Take care,
~Chris
