bottom end
i just ordered a bbk h pipe, and i am wondering a few things, 1 am i gonna loose a noticable amount of bottom end, 2 im expecting 5 to 7 horses, is this to much to expect, 3 im sticking with my stock mufflers my car is a 98, will i notice a difference in sound, and last but not least is it a pain to put on? any info would be greatly appreciated, thanx

An H-pipe will only help your bottom end. You do not have to worry about your exhaust hurting you until you make it too free flowing with out changing the induction system. But with stock headers and catback you will be fine.
Are you putting on an off road cat back? If so I'd expect more than 5 to 7 HP. I felt a noticable change when I put mine on. Probably closer to 15 HP. Your car will sound meaner, but will not be as loud as aftermarket mufflers. I heard a Guy with a 95 who had just cut the Cats out and replaced them with a solid pipe and his car sounded pretty cool. Not near as loud as mine, but it still had that aggressive sound. Hope that helps. ------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |
Modular engines reactdifferently to h and x pipes than 5.0's.
I tried the BBK off-road H and lost power down low compared to the Bassani X. I now have a gutted Bassani because one of the cats failed but I want to put an X pipe on again with cats. The 4.6 needs torque and the X pipe with cats brings it. My off-road X makes more power than a cat x pipe but I don't like the fumes anymore.. ------------------ formerly 96cobra89lx306 (96Cobra/softtop-3.73,almdrvsht,fancontrl,steeda sbfrmes+shifter,eibachspgs,KYB's,FR-upper arms,Y2K Cobra R's,pulleys,Bassani X pipe(off-road),C&L 80mm,Amsoil etc.. 93 Ford Probe Gt(slower but turns) |
