buildin a 4.6

I AM BUILDING A 4.6 UP AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT WOULD THE BEST WAY OF DOING IT? WHAT KIND OF KIT SHOULD I USE TO BUILD THE BOTTOM END UP? ARE THE CRANK SHAFTS IN THE F SERIES BIGGER THEN THE GT MUSTANG?

Concentrate mostly on the rods and pistons as those are the weak links in the modular engines. Some good forged pistons and some Manley H-Beam rods will make it very tough. For the bottom end just use a stud girdle. Crankwise, most people go with the Cobra crank but I think the 2V crank should do unless your going for real big power. Also, with the Cobra crank, you will need to swap flywheels because it uses an 8 bolt pattern as opposed to 6. As far as I know, the truck crank is the same as the Mustang spec crank.

Crank

The 4.6 engines have a 3.552 inch stroke and the 5.4s have a 4.16 inch stroke. The 5.4 and 4.6 are the same bore size the only difference in displacement is the stroke.
