c&l plenum
in addition to the pro-m meter, i also ordered a c&l plenum. someone in mm&ff said his car pulled like a freight train in 4th gear after he put that on. i'll let you guys know after i put the parts on. i'm guessing, based on a few articles testing maf and the plenum, i should get about 15 more horses at the wheels.

I thought it was TB and Plenum.
|
no man, i got both on e-bay at separate auctions.
|
sorry, The article I read was about TB and pelumn. My bad.
|
I didn't do a before & after dyno test, but I did do a b&a test at the track.
Using stock plenum with a SVO 70mm tb.= 11.74@116.2 Same day, at the track, I switched to the CnL plenum and kept my 70mm tb.=11.74@117.9 So basically, my car gained almost 2mph. I'd say 15 rwhp is a realalistic figure. |
As I recall, C&L's original claims of 25 hp for both TB and plenum are basically over-stated. The car mags (that advertise these things) reported 14 hp for both (rwhp). All the dynos that I have seen are more like 10 hp. BUT, and I mean a big BUT, I often question dyno numbers for ANY intake mod. Think about it. A dyno does not replicate high speed air flow of the car moving down the road/track.
I personally believe that the gains are more live 15 hp. I read the article in MM&FF that you speak of, and I have to agree with the comments. Add, 4.10's and an X-Pipe and hold on tight. When my car was stock, it ran out of steam shortly over 5,000 rpms. Now, as modded, it feels like it could pull to 7,000 rpms. I have a bud with a 2000 vert (as I do), 5 speed with exhaust mods only. My car can run circles around him up high. (He has 3.73's thoygh). Now he is trying to set his car up just like mine. I can't wait to add cams and heads...that would be da zhit! |
c&l intake plenium
keep in mind the bullett intake netted 25 horsepower on a blown engine in steeda's Q , for just an upper plenium i would guess about 7 hp , no more than 12 with a blower. C&L is working on an intake manifold to match.
|
Thing is he is talking about getting a new MAF and not a new Throttle body. Also blown cars with intake changes are far different than stock cars with intake changes.
|
yeah, what godstang said. i'm getting an 80mm pro-m mass-air meter and a c&l plenum. would the pro-m work well with my rubber air hose, or should i get the true-flow pipe.

putting a maf on a stock car will net maybe 2 hp cause it will lean it out and thats it. plus dont take the numbers the magazines get as dead on cause they do bend the truth a lot |
i realize this, but the factory meter has a big post across it that blocks airflow. not to mention the screen also.

the screemn is to straighten the airflow going over the wires in the meter the big thing is the transfer fun. of a meter and if its not setup right(not the sample tube) it will cause a major lean condition you have no where near the mods to even need one the stock maf are good for over 350 rwhp n/a before the need comes to up it heres a list I have with out a maf (power/acc mods) steeda u/d pullies steeda t/a (set at stock) afm powerstack filter) densecharger maf-t/b tube 70mm t/b c&l plenum mac long tube headers bbk h-pipe dumped magnaflow headers sct chip 4.10 gears and thats it(minus the nx 100 shot that has not been used yet) \and I put down on the dyno 265@5100 rwhp 307@4700 rwtq and my buddy with a 03 with everything I have plus 4.30 gears instead of the 4.10s and a 80mm pro-m and he put down 264@5100 rwhp and 301 @4700 rwtq on the same dyno same day only about 10 mins apart |
eplicitone- that's all you put down i figured you woild be at least around 285 with that chip and exhaust alone. What kind of program are you running and do you still have your cat's. what kind of times do you run with that 100 shot

stock a 00GT will put 225 to the wheels(260 flywheel) 265 thats at the wheels flywheel that comes to over 309 you must not take what the mags or the adds say as truth, most with cams and a dyno tune only put down 280-290 without ported heads and bullit manifold and as for my 100 shot times I have not used it yet cause im stll leaving a lot on the table with my n/a set up once I get the 60' where I want them then I will start spraying should run high-mid 11s on drag radials (once I get traction down) |
You make me laugh. Your times are awsome for what you have done to the car. I was only able to muster a pathetic 14.3 with a 2.0x 60 foot last night in my heavy vert (first time at the track). Altitude at the track is about 600 feet, it was over 80 degrees and 94% humidity. I am sure the weather was not ideal. Corrected, my times were still only 13.9 though. I should be running much better with my mods. I would love to have you drive me car to see what you could get out of it.
Still, though. I ran better than every other mustang except one guy who ran 13.5's all night. Don't know what he had done under the hood. Saw a 96 ish GT run over 16. |
