Is there a way to check for bad 02's?
... other than the check engine light. My car has started running VERY rich at idle, but has a miss and lean pop under load or partial acceleration. I was just wondering if I could check with a volt meter or if there was some other brilliant way to check them without just pulling them out and getting a new set. Thanks in advance.

Hey 93 how are you doing, didn't see oyu last night, get that meter yet?
I know this isn't the cheapest method but it will also help in the future. I have a A/F meter and if the sensor goes static/bad they tend to run either dead rich or dead lean. After the install I found one of my O2's ran rich on the gauge you will see it because it doesn't dance around, stays at the high or low end. If you want to do this I can send you the instructions on the install of the toggle so you can read LH and RH from one gauge. Maybe I'll see you in the chat if your there, were trailering my car down my parents tonight so we can install the cage tomorrow but I'll check the boards later.. I read somewhere that you can check an O2 with a voltimeter..
a good one is supposed to read 8 ohms (not 100% sure though) |

Hey Rick. Actually, I do have an A/F guage on my car already. I have it mounted on my A-pilar from when I had a blower. It shows my car running stoic all the time, but I question how accurate it is. When I got my car dynoed, when it would miss, the A/F would spike lean for a split second and return to normal.
Oh, I was on last night, I don't remember what time.. I think it was after 9:00. There was a decent turnout. |

they're heated so if you to turn the key on(for about 5 min) you can check the heaters by grabb'n the o2s with your hand as long as everything is cold!

not to question it but the symptons you described sound like a bad mass air meter i had similar problem and found the wires on the sensor were bad, just my two cents good luck other wise.

93lx- Actually, I thought the same thing. So I changed out my meter with a friends and still no change. Maybe I should have unplugged the battery or something, but it still ran poorly. Also, while I was at the dyno, we changed my C&L with a Pro-M that they had lying around, and it still had a crappy miss. This has been going on for quite a while now and no one seems to know the answer.
Thanks again for all the input. |
