Arrow Chip Question

I have a 2000 GT, Auto. Any recommendations on which performance chip I should obtain? Mods I have made so far are: Bassani X Pipes, MagnaFlow and K & N Air Filter. Also, any idea on how much HP I can gain with a chip?

On a near stock car? Not much...

My opinion on performance chips such as "superchips" and the like, is that they are not worth it until you get into moderate or heavy mods and need a new chip burned from a dyno...

Save your money and get some 3.73 gears...

I second that from Hammer. The chips are useless unless you have major mods and then have a chip burned when on a dyno and getting tuned. Get some 3.73s or even 4.10s for that auto. Personally, I think the 4.10s would work better since it's an automatic.

I agree w/ Hammer and say put that money toward some gears. At your level of mods it will only basically act as a shift kit, and not a good one at that. It increases line pressure, and while it makes for faster, harder shifts, it puts more wear on your tranny. You'd be better off getting a real one installed. If you can find somebody who will burn you a custom chip it will be better then a off the shelf chip.
I am lucky in the fact that a guy who is member of the TCCoA is an engineer for Roush and has designed a Tbird specific program that he tailors to each vehicle. It's way better then any off the shelf chip, and puts down about 20 rwhp! 10hp comes form a new air/fuel and timing curve using 93+ octane and the other 10hp come from locking up the converter at WOT (better effiency).

Thanks for the feedback, now I have a question about upgrading my gears. I do alot of Freeway driving, wont gears mess up my ride at contant speeds of over 75MPH?

A gear swap is mainly for off the line acceleration and I have to be honest and say that if you regulary drive of 75mph, you are probably best keeping the stock 3:27's. A gear swap would really help your car's performance, but w/ a four speed auto driving over 75mph, the 3:27's are probably perfect for gas and passing power. It wouldn't be worth it to step up to 3:55's, maybe a tenth, but a tenth isn't worth the money of a gear swap.

I agree with the not stepping up to 3.55, but 3.73s would do wonders. I put gears in my 99 GT auto a few weeks after I bought the car and it made a big difference. With a converter shift kit & cooler to compliment the gears, the car was a rocket off the line and pulled much harder to 130 mph. At 75 mph, the rpms will be between 2500-2600 rpms. With the stock gears, the rpms at 75 are about 2250-2300 rpms. If you do change the gears, you definitely need a chip. I would recommend a JMS(Johnson Motorsports) chip. WWW.JMSchip.com. Talk to Steve and I'm sure they can set you up with a more aggressive tune for power, shift points & converter lock up which will make a big difference. Start saving for a quality converter. I recommend either a Precision Industries Stallion converter or Protorque converter. I have used both and both are excellent. www.converter.com www.protorque.com
