Clutch Problem, does this sound right?

My clutch pedal was vibrating loudly between 1,000 and 2,000 rpm, when the engine was under moderate load. I assumed it was just a resonance thing.

This was extremely annoying while I was just driving along side streets, so I took it in to get looked at while its still under warranty.

I thought somthing in the pedal joint just needed tightening. However the dealership says somthing is wrong with the clutch assembly. They mentioned the little spines on the pressure plate and the throwout bearing.

They'll do it for free, but recomend I pony up 100 bucks to get the clutch plate replaced while they are in there. The car has 22k miles on it.

Does all this sound kosher?

Thanks,

xto

For reference, my clutch went out at 45,000 so depending on your driving style your about half way there. The advantage to replacing the clutch now is avoiding the labor cost of pulling the tranny. You can do it now and pony up for a clutch swap at 60,000 or save your hundred now, swap at 40,000 and be good til 80,000.

6 to one half dozen to the other, but I would go ahead and get the clutch.
