code P0430
I was wondering if anyone had any more info on this trouble code. The definition I got was:
"THE PCM HAS DETERMINIED THAT THE CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY FOR BANK 2 IS BELOW THRESHOLD FOR THE CURRENT ENGINE OPERATION CONDITIONS. (BANK 1 IDENTIFIES THE LOCATION OF CYLINDER #1, WHILE BANK 2 IDENTIFIES THE CYLINDERS ON THE OPPOSITE BANK)"
I was wondering if it is more likely the O2 sensors or the Cats?
And I guess it would be for the side of the engine opposite of cylinder 1?
The vehicle is a 98 Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It started pinging with 87 octane about a month ago. I put 93 in it and it seemed to be working better. Then it started to miss intermittantly. The service engine soon light is now on and still seems to run okay on 93, but still pings on 87.
Thanks,
Jerry
