Cold Air Induction Choices

I've been a classic stang owner for years and I really like the older cars. However, I like the looks of the SN95 cars and finally broke down and bought an '02 GT. I've had it for a few weeks now and I'm ready to start modifying.

I'm looking for some advice on the most prefered Cold Air Induction system. BBK seems to have the majority of the market but MAC, K&N and others all seem comparable. Any words of wisdom on this?

Thanks for your help.

Cervinis Mach 1 Hood and CAI kit for it. No chance of sucking water up off the groud like the traditional CAI that mounts under the car like the March does.... this is an expensive combo though.

Hey ford mag did a acticle called blowing hot air or whatever and they did a test with the stock aircleaner vs morso cold air induction and there was NO difference, morso is just like the others kinda so i dont know what to tell you, i'll try an find the article and link it for ya.

CAI is a scam..send me the money instead. Seriously, it's bullshit for muscle V8's. For little 4 bangers-maybe 2 HP.

Yea, cold air is worthless. Just yank the air silencer and drop in a K&N. The cold air system can even make you lose power, because as soon as your car warms up the passenger's side header is gonna heat soak that little aluminum CAI pipe, causing you to suck in all kind of hot air.

Cold Air intake

umm tireburner163 Yes cold air intakes do help u if u get the right one if u get a cold air intake with K&N it is the best but if u get a cold air intake that doesn't have K&N its going to suck the cold air intake i have is the Dense Charger the websit is www.densecharger.com.

I have seen this stuff on a dyno....

On a stock engine, you're basically paying 200 dollars for 1 or 2 RWHP. (If you see anything at all)

Buy a K&N air filter, drop it in, and spend your money on a mod that makes a difference....

Yea, I'm sure you picked up SO much power with you CAI setup:rolleyes:

I hope you enjoyed wasting $160 bucks on a part that gave you 3-5hp.

So the ones with K&N's are good and the ones without them suck? Yea you can really tell the extra 1hp you get from using a K&N filter.

i dont know about you guys, but i seem to notice a pretty good difference in top end.

but then again it could of been power that was being held back with the little k&n that was on there.

3-5 HP is even a little high. I would agree more with the earlier estimates of around 1-2.

That increase was just in your mind. It is impossible to notice a difference of 1-3 HP.

I have a MAC cold-air intake, but the only reason is that I got it for 50% off and it looks cool. If you are willing to spend $160-$200 on something that makes your engine bay look nice then do it like I did, but don't expect to notice anything other than the slight air-sucking sound that sounds pretty cool when you rev it up.

I am starting to doubt the CAI setups... I liked my RamAir hood, it looked really nice coming down the road... but I am starting to wonder how much good it really did... I think the reason people "feel" the difference in their car's with the CAI is the long hated "placebo effect". You get something that people say will give you power, so in turn, your brain makes you think you feel it..... I have had 3 different "Real" ram air hoods, and each time I would have put money down that I saw real gains... but it ended up being nothing more than a phantom..

It's no different than the experiments they do with medications. They tell people a pill will help them with their problems or allergies, but the pill itself as absolutley no medicinal value.. In a sense they cure themselves by beliveing in the "magic"..

Some of you may believe in the CAI as a real HP adder, but.. I am starting to realize you don't really need it. I would think it would help cool the engine off more than it would raise power. As far as open intakes inside the hood and metal intake tubes, I think that's a waste of about 200.00 unless you have a blower. You have a metal intake tube next to the header and you'll get heat soak, you have an open air element under the hood and all you do is suck in hot air from the engine... and the CAI sits in the fenderwell... well, if you look, your stock box does the same thing...

---just my opinion.

cold air

I went with the WMS cold air. Its a company outta canada, I got a k&n, power pipe and a pro-m for pretty cheap. Fit and finsh is very good. www.wmsracing.com

no cold air...just more CFM.

some of the filters used on those "cold air" systems flow less than a stock filter (less mass).

.02 cents

I agree totally, but I think the sound difference is pretty noticable... I got mine for less than 50%...mine was 75 for everything (including filter)...
