Angry coolent in the 6 and 7 cyl. long

ok dad bought a 96 gt convert. a bout a month ago and the dealer gave him a good price so he bought it be for i could take a look see (bought lots of cars from the guy- not a first dealing) so right off the bat i notice that the thing is overheating, go to change the t stat and it dont have one and to top it off the fan only works if the ac is on but heres the kicker he started to loose coolent and the shop at the ford dealership where he bought it at said that #6 and 7 where filling up with coolent and that he needed a new motor and that they wasent sure if the warenty(sp) that he bought with the car will cover it! kinda pisses me off cause we(the family) have bought like 12-15 cars from this dealer in the past 20 years. anyone have a experince like this?

Yeah. Theres a Technical Service Bulletin on that. Usually the intake just completely cracks when it goes, but it could very well be the same problem. It should be completely covered by Ford no matter when it happened. Let me give it a look and see if I can't find it. But you should be okay, money wise at least.

Cool

could be a broken head gasket but most likely is the intake. There is recall from Ford on the intake. Take the car down there and make them replace it under the recall.
