Dead power mirrors
My remote power mirrors just stopped working the other day (rather I noticed they didn't work when I tried to adjust them so I have no idea how long they have been on the fritz) and I need a little guidance and where to start troubleshooting. Here's the scoop. The driver and passenger side mirrors are both dead. I haven't checked the fuse as everything else supposedly on that fuse is still working. When I have the windows down and I move the joystick there is no motor sound at all from either mirror. Where do I start troubleshooting? Is there one main switch that provides power to both units? An inline fuse somewhere that controls just the mirrors? Sorry for the length but I just wanted to try and give all the info. It's just wierd that it kind of just happened out of the blue. Thanks in advance for any help

It is possible that the left/right selector switch is bad or that you have a loose wire on the back of the switch. I would suggest pulling the switch out and do the following checks:
1. Make sure you have 12V on the common of the left/right selector switch. If you do not your problem is somewhere between the fuse block and the switch. 2. If you do have power on the switch the problem is either the switch, wiring, or motors. But it is unlikely that BOTH of your motors kicked off at the same time. Hope this helps! Thanks King Snake. When I get a chance I'll check those items. Hopefully something just got loose in the wiring but if not I'm sure a switch couldn't be too much. I'll let you guys know if(when) I get it figured out.
Thanks again. ------------------ 66 Tahoe Turquoise Coupe Laser Red 96GT Ragtop 30 Years & 30 inches apart in the driveway! |
