Default Help with valve train ticking

posting for a friend:
I just put a set of the Crane 1.7'rr on my car with a E-303 cam. I cant seem to get rid of this ticking noise. I had to shim a couple of rockers but thats normal correct. My other question since they are pedistal mount is there way that i can use polylocks to keep them adjusted correctly. Do I need to use pushrod guide plates with the rockers instead to the "saddle" that comes stock. Any of your unput is greatly appreciated as I am at my whits end.

with pushrod guide plates they say you have to use hardened pushrods(dont know why) but just shimming them up should rid the ticking noise.

Does your valve cover have enough clearance? The stock valve cover will hit where the baffle is right under the oil cap. That definately makes noise. For the pedestal mount rocker arms i don't think you need to use guide plates or hardened pushrods. I thought that was only for stud mount rocker arms. Hope you figure it out,
