Default engine oil for 4.6 l v8 gt

will 1/2 quart extra hurt this engine? some clowns at the lube shop overfilled it.I hear this happens quite often with these places. You would think they would know better.I guess I better start doing it myself. How much overfilling do you think it would take b/4 it actually hurt the engine? Thanks for the help.

Probably will just make the engine burn the extra 1/2 qt. Might foul the plugs slightly, but won't really hurt the engine much. What's the crank case capacity?

I'd drain and refill..I once put 11 quarts in my 96 GT (dont ask why, how or any other obvious questions to such a retarded move) and after I covered the neighborhood in oil smoke the engine never idled properly again, even after a tune-up. The capacity obviously was also 6 quarts. If you turn the car on and have idle surges and a sputtering exhaust sound you may wanna empty and refill.
