a few simple ?s to beef the stang

hey guys this is gt96 again i once again am here to ask a few ?s since everyone has helped me tons already!

AIR SILENCER: what is this? what does it do when removed?
T\B & MAF: would it do anything to upgrade these things?
180 STAT: what is this? how does it help?
PORTING PLENUM AND T\B: can i port my 96 composite plenum? and t\b? if done what possible problems can occur if done wrong?

if anyone can help i appreciate it i know a lot about my car but i hear and learn new stuff everyday! thanks fellow enthusiasts!

well....ill tell ya what i know and others can fill in the rest...

the air silencer (at least on my stang) is that big rubber piece attached to the air filter's housing and goes into the fenderwall...it can be easily removed...basically it restricts air flow...dont expect great power increase from removing it, but you may get a cool sound from it...and on cool nights you might feel a bit more lively...

to change out the throttle body on a stock/near stock car is useless...your money is better spent elsewhere...

and i believe the maf would be a useless upgrade on a stock/near stock car as well...

sorry i cant explain more though...
