Starting from second will wear out your clutch faster since you have to slip it out all the time when starting from second especially if you still have stock gears.

What you can do is just bump it in first. Just start off by getting the car to roll a bit in first, then go right into second. That is what I do when I am trying to drive very quietly or just want to go slow.
