Gear Ratio Selection
I have a 96GT w/ 5sp. I have been trying to decide whether I should get 3.73s or 4.10s. I have noticed that many of you have 3.73s and suggested them to lots of others, but I have been told by a few friends that have had both that I would be happier w/ the 4.10s. I don't do much highway driving so MPG is not a factor. Also, I was considering adding a NOS kit somtime in the future. Should this affect my gear selection? Any help/advice would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

In my opinion, 3.73 gears are the perfect gear ratio for a street\strip driven Modular GT....
A Cobra may want to seriously think about 4.10s though... ------------------ "The Yellowjacket" 381.8 rwhp 377.6 rwtq "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." |
Seeing as how you have a 96 GT has a much different power band from a 99-01 I would also recommend 3.73's. If you have plans on a head swap for the PI heads I would go 4.10's.
Cobras should not look at anything less than a 4.30 gear if staying NA. ------------------ 00 GT, MAC Offroad H, Steeda Pulleys & Timing Adjuster, 4.10’s, Flows w/turndowns, UPR shifter, UPR Pro Series LCA’s, Lakewood 70/30’s & 50/50’s, 253.8 RWHP/292.8RWTQ 12.91@101.93 (1.74 60ft) M/M 100, 7085 2001 Mod Motor Shootout 2V NA Champion Recent Pic from Moroso |
