Serious problem after gear swap.......
A firend and I installed some 3.73's this weekend. I had never done it before so he pretty much did the work. It took about four tries but we finally got it. Anyway, on the way home (I was getting on it a little bit ) and boom! My car was vibrating like crazy. I pulled over and noticed my starter hanging down. I then saw that my transmission bellhousing was cracked! Do you think we installed the gears incorrectly or was it just time for it after (2003-1989=14) 14 years of abuse?

It's too far from your heart to kill you. I don't think you can do anything with the rear end that will crack the bell housing. At least not without tearing out the driveshaft first.

not related......just sounds like your car didnt like being messed with.
dont worry everytime i do something to mine, it decides it gonna get me back in some way. a little off topic: i pulled my motor to stroke clearance the block.....went into the garage the next day to find my block laying on the floor with a piece cracked off around the cylinder. i think it was my motors way of saying F U. it all works out good though, it forced me to buy a dart block |
