Question Gears

Just a quick question for those who've changed to 3.27's and 3.73 ratios, what's the difference in top speed when changing from stock to the 3.27 and 3.73 ?

Don't know, havent' reached mine yet. I know it goes well over 100 pulling in forth. Haven't hit fifth at top speed yet...I'm guessing somewhere around 150, maybe a littl less.

Thks Titan, how did you lower your wipers, I don't like the way mine sit on my windshield?? From reading other posts the 5th is just an overdrive, fourth should get you to a higher top speed, I've had mine to about 130 mph but it felt like it could go to maybe 140-150 mph in fourth, this was using my stock gears, so I was just wondering if I would lose any top speed if I did change out to a different gear ratio. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?? I don't drag much, but I like to fly on the highways, thks!!

Make sure your wipers are at their lowest point normally. Then unlock the tab at the bottom where it sits on the car. The same as if you were going to remove the whole wiper arm (this is what you will be doing). Notice where it's at on the arm, then rotate it a little to one side and it will now rest lower than normal.. All you are doing is rotating it around in a circle. takes about five minutes and no tools.

If you go to 3.73s it will make your 5th gear usable, so you shouldn't really lose any top speed. 3.27s would be a waste of time and money.

Default Top Speed

I recently put 3.73's in my car and was curious if I would have to shift into 5th for the quarter, so I went for the old 4th gear top speed run. I'm pretty sure I hit about 115 mph in 4th at about 5800 rpm's with the 3.73. I kept going up until 135 and the car was still pulling very strong before I backed off, really can't remember what rpm's I was at, I want to say around 3500 rpms at 135 mph, but I'm not sure.
