GT to Cobra

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to put '98' dual overhead cam heads on my '98' GT?

No

You can get the same flow rate (ok, really close) with ported heads. I don't really know why you would want the extra valves.

AFAIK, the cast iron block in the GT is the same design as the aluminum block in the cobra of that year. the heads will fit, but you may need the exhaust and intake from the cobra also, as well as the different tensioners for the camshaft drive chain...

Thanks for the response.

Ok so it is or isnt?

If it is I would be changing the exhaust and morethen liekly the intake to a higher performance one anyway along with the heads.

So really could i take GT motor blocks basically and ptu 4 valve technology stuff on it?

WIll the aluminum block hold up better to power or the GT?

THanks

It will fit, but you gonna be spending alot of money getting the rest of your accesories to line up and work correct.

Some of the mod shootout guys were running the cast block with the 4V heads, but they had serious cash into the cars.

Okay let's clear up some confusion here. For starters yes you can put 4v heads on a 2v block. There is some modifications that have to be done but not impossible. As for why would you want 4v's if you hadn't noticed there are 11 second bolt-on Cobras out there no 2V has done it and never will with just bolt-ons.

You'll need more than heads and intake to make a 4v motor. 4V motors rev to 7K RPM all day long and a stock 2v rotating assembly will not handle that. Plus you will lose compression with the stock 2v pistons and 4v heads.

Roughly speaking you'll need: heads, intake, inlet tube, 24lb injectors, MAF, pistons, crank, timing chains, timing chain covers, radiator crossover tube, radiator hose, EEC recalibrated, alternator, accessory brackets, exhaust manifolds...

The manifolds from my Cobra will be for sale in a couple weeks if anyone is interested. 9,000 miles on them
