Looking at my directions that came with the FRPP units I have sitting in my living room it says:
To replace them you have to:

1. Remove H/X pipe assembly.
2. Remove secondary air connections from the front of manifolds.

Then Passenger Side:

1. Remove Starter
2. Loosen exhaust manifold nuts
3. Remove the motor mount bolts and raise the engine 1 1/2 inches
4. Remove old manifolds, and install new ones
5. Lower engine back, and re-bolt studs
The Driver Side:
6. Re-install the starter

1. Remove the steering shaft
2. Remove dipstick tube.
3. Remove old manifold and install new headers.
4. Put everything back together again, start and test for leaks.

There's more detail to it, put that's the overview. 10 hours sounds like a bit much, but it doesn't sound easy.

Are you doing it yourself or having it done. The guy I'm talking to said 14 hours and a $1000, says he's shooting high just in case. That's like $71 dollars an hour no way I'm going to pay that especially when he said his rate was 60 an hour. I'm going to call Ford Friday and fined out what they charge.

My mechanic only charges about $40/hour. I'll think I'll take the directions to him and see what he says he'll do it for. $400 for the job sounds a heck of a lot better then $1000.

It depends on what he says. My driveway is on about a 20% grade and I don't have all the tools here to do it myself. So if I do do it I gotta drive about 4 hours to my brother's house and do it there.

I'm also doing a X-pipe and a cat-back at the same time. As long as I gotta pull it out, might as well put something better back in its place, right? That and if I gotta pull it out and put it back in anyway, it won't cost me anymore (time or money) to put something else back in its place.

Unfortantly, before I worry about any of this fun stuff, I need to worry about dealing with the insurance company of the women who rear ended me, so it may be a month before I can get this stuff out of my living room and onto my car where it belongs.

For just the headers I think its not worth it for the 8-10 hp you'd get. Hopefully as long as I'm doing the whole shabang all at once to avoid duplicate labor, the price/performance will be more reasonable.

I'm also doing, high flow cats to x-pipe, cat backs, pully's and custom chip at the same time. The price was just for the headers. If my 3.73's springs and rear shocks get here on time I'm going to have them done to.

I did the install myself, on a lift in about 15 hours. I could probably do it a second time in less than 10 hours. I would not attempt it without a lift because of how hard it is to get to some of the studs. When I bought mine, the place I bought them from said they had done the install a few times and could do it in about 6 hours and would charge accordingly. Just check around, having done it myself I might install a set for about $300.
