Pulleys?

I'm looking into getting a set of pulleys. I was just wondering what kind of experience everyone has had with the performance gains from them. Also, I have a Pioneer head unit (35 watts by 4) and an amp pushing 80 watts to a 10" sub. Will I have any problems in using the alternator pulley?

I would go stereo or pulleys, but not both.

But as long as they are installed properly, you don't live in Arizona, and don't have a stereo then you are okay.

Most people see 8 or so rwhp.

Yeah 97snakedriver's right, do you want tunes or power?? Personally, I'm going to skip the pulleys and keep my tunes and AC. There are plenty of other bolt ons that will let you keep your stereo pumping and boost hp. Try an aluminum driveshaft... It's pretty cheap, and you will probably gain a few rwhp.

Nevermind! "cravnpup" answered my question in the "That time again..." posting!!! Less rotational inertia! So how much of an increase are we talking about???

Go with the stereo...and the pulleys! These S/N-95's come with a high power 200 amp alternator, unlike the old fox body's which came with a 130 amp alternator.
I have the Mach 460, which cranks out 200 Watts of power, plus a 700 Watt amp pushing my three JL Audio 10"s. I've got a set of March U/D pulley's that I installed and have had no charging problems what so ever. I even use the A/C sometimes. While there is a definite power drop when you kick on the A/C, there is no power loss from using the stereo.
However, if you do experience any charging or draining problems, simply install a Capacitor in your stereo system. I have a 1 Farad Cap that I installed.
The standard for Caps is 1 Farad per 1000 Watts of power, so for your system, I would say use a .25 Farad cap, if they make it. I know there is a .5 Farad cap, and it doesn't hurt to go bigger.
Trust me, Stereo + Pulley's = No Problems!

The aluminum driveshaft is lighter than the stock steel piece. This reduces the rotational inertia of the drivetrain and so the power lost between the crank and the rear wheels is reduced. What this means is that for the same amount of engine/crank horsepower less power is lost in the drivetrain, and more power makes it to the rear wheels. It is not a large difference, but it should net 2-4 rwhp.

I hope that explains it.

T-Bone: Is there a noticeable difference in the output of the AC with the pulleys. I've heard that it doesn't work as well, but I don't have any hard evidence...

Also TBone, do your headlights dim when you bring your car to an idle and brighten when the revs come up?
