Instrument cluster
I have a 79 Mustang 5.0. I am trying to put the instrument cluster from a 83-86 in it. I like the brighter colors of the newer cluster. Everytime I put one in, I can't get my car started. I was wondering why this is. When I put back the original the car starts right up. Is there a way I can get the newer cluster to work? I would appreciate any help, please.

Have you compared the wiring diagrams between the 2 clusters?I had a 79, and and had to screw around with the cluster a few times. What year is the donar gauges coming from?
