Default Cobra-R Side Exhaust -- SWEEET!

hey,

For my exhaust set up I want long tube headers, bassani x-pipe and Steeda SIDE Exhaust, just like the Cobra-R

but know one can give me a straight answer on how they perform. I know the Cobra-R has a nice side exhaust, can you buy the stock Cobra-R exhaust

If so, does it or would it perform better then Steeda Side Exhaust.

The side exhaust for me personally is the move, because so many people in upstate new york have mustangs, but I have yet to see one with side exhaust so thats what I have my heart set on, so lemme know how I can optimize this..

Thanks!

From what I hear, the side exhaust is good for mostly looks only, not performance gains. What I was told is, they increse your back pressure as speed increases vice a rear exhaust which creates a suction as speed increases. Again, this is just what I was told by a performance shop tech, not from experience.

it creates more backpressure because of the extra bends too.

the mufflers are in the stock location so...it goes through the h pipe...through the muffler....back up toward the front of the car...then out the side.

I had a bassani X-Pipe with Borla Side pipes on my '96 GT and they would scrape on everything. I couldnt go anywhere with speed bumps. I couldnt get into parking garages. I couldnt get my car on a lift because the side pipes would get in the way. Even on sharp turns they would scrape a little bit. Admitedly my car has ford motorsport c-springs in the front and back so its a little lower and siffer, but you still cant sacrifice the fact that your only 2-3" off the ground. the only set ups that i would say i like side exhaust is on the new vette and on the new viper. Save yourself time and money, get a pair of 2-chamber flowmasters.
