help w/torque converters
Does anybody have any advice on torque converters? I have a vague idea of how they work, but I'm not quite sure, and I could use any help on what kind of converter to use.
I have a 1994 GT with the following mods: 3:55 gears, BBK equal length headers, bassani X-pipe, flowmaster 3 chambers, underdrive pulleys, K&N air filter, 70mm throttle body. It's the stock transmission with a shift kit. |
What are you asking? I have a 2800 RPM in my car (89 LX convertable /w Atrim) The converter is an awesome mod, seat of the pants close to that of a gear swap. I have the PI converter and it's the best converter for the money but it's expensive at around 600-700 bucks. Check out the website

The stall rpm that you want out of your converter depends on your car's weight, gearing, and where it makes its peak power.
Generally cars with numerically high gears and a high revving powerband use higher rpm stall converters, and vice versa. |
